I love this plugin! However, one limitation I've found is there is no way to assign a widget to a dynamically generated wordpress page. For example, I am using a real estate listing plugin that generates pages automatically after you enter all your information in that plugin admin app. The real estate listings are automatically created but they don't show up as WordPress pages, so therefore Display Widgets is not recognizing them and I don't get a check-box option to assign a widget to that page.
I think if there were a text box field option to type in a page id, I would be able to assign a widget to that page. A similar plugin, Widget Locationizer works because it uses page id's instead of check boxes. But Display Widgets is so much easier to use and so much faster I really don't want to change. Am I missing a possible workaround or way to make this work with those auto generated page id's? Any help would be much appreciated!

Are these listings pages saved as blog posts or pages? What is the name of the real estate plugin you are using?
I am planning on adding a text field for post ids, but I'd just like to make sure that they are using posts, so the above info would be very helpful!
Thanks!

http://www.firestorminteractiv…..al-estate/ is the plugin I am using. With this plugin, you create a page for the real estate listings, but it generates the content on that page. Then it also automatically generates sub pages for each listing's detail page. I use the word "page" but it doesn't show up under pages or posts so it can't be edited by core WordPress, just in the plugin admin page. So, I'm not sure how to classify…page or post.

The problem is that the individual listings are not posts or pages, so they don't have an ID. The listings page should show up as a check box though, but the sidebar wouldn't be changeable for different listings. Your urls are just in disguise (using rewrite rules). They're really something like this: site.com/listings?listing=4 but the plugin just makes them pretty, although they are just different variations of the same listings page. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense or not. Bottom line: the listings page should show up as a checkbox, but represents all the "sub" pages.

Right, I follow you. If it isn't a page or post, a check box option won't appear.
But is it possible, in future development, to add a text field option to the Display Widgets plugin to allow you to assign to dynamically generated pages? A field you could manually type in an entire url or the last part of it? For example, at the bottom of all the check box pages within your plugin options, there could be a field called "Other Pages" and it would be a text box field. You'd type something like "www.mysite.com/listings/listing1″ (this is an example of a dynamically generated page title from the real estate plugin) or "listing1″. Then, once a permalink is specified in that field, the widget would appear on that page. Does that make sense? How easy would it be to add something like that?
I tested adding a widget to a listing page using widget locationizer, as it uses text fields, and it worked. So I'm hoping it may not be a big issue to add something like this to Display Widgets. Again, I think Display Widgets is MUCH more efficient and user friendly, aside from that one limitation. It would be awesome to see it as an option down the road sometime. Thanks so much for your plugin and help here!

Yes, that would be possible. I'm just trying to keep this plugin as simple as possible and not overcomplicate it. But I think you've got a good solution there to add a field that excepts full URLS. Thanks for the suggestion!
